I came across a new word today: egregore.
Usually, when my eye hits an unfamiliar term, I let the momentum of reading carry me past it. Not this time. Rather than letting context inform me, I looked the word up.
It seems that an egregore is a collective thought form. It is created when a group of people all focus their attention on the same event or issue. I guess an event in the news would be a good example. Over time, this shared energy takes on a life of its own. The energy increases as more and more people become aware of it and interested in it. It then begins to dictate how everyone should think and feel, in addition to how they should speak and act. It becomes part of the collective consciousness, as well as a conditioning pattern. Of course, this all takes place on a subconscious level.
Basically, it comes down to this, when a group fixates on an idea, it triggers a social feedback loop. As numbers grow, the group stops fueling the idea, and the idea begins to control the group.
An example can be seen in workplaces where there is an unspoken pressure to work extra long hours. These aren’t required, yet everyone feels they are so they comply.
Another example is online. Most everyone can relate to this. Someone says something that triggers someone else. More people pile on until an aggressive consensus forms. More and more people get involved and those who do not agree with the consensus tend to keep quiet. Modern psychology calls this social conditioning or mob mentality.

Then we have Pluto in Sagittarius. This generation is searching for truth. They experience an egregore as a righteous crusade. Once a collective narrative takes hold, they transform a shared viewpoint into absolute dogma. They perceive dissent as a threat to higher truth.
When people share a cause today, the field they feed is rarely brand new. It’s almost always influenced by old generational Pluto dynamics. We merge with others out of a fear of standing alone. Past behaviors feel safe and comfortable after all. Even when they no longer serve us.
An egregore manifests when enough people focus their energy on the same point. The energy field turns into a vortex. It pulls people out of their own center and sweeps them into a shared, instinctual reaction.
